- Check an existing PCR.
- If a PCR already exists, take it as reference for the LCA calculation.
- If there is no existing PCR, develop a PCR.
The first step for preparing a Type III environmental declaration is to explore whether a PCR in the same product category or a related PCR to the selected product exist.
A list of existing PCRs can be found in this website, or you may visit each EPD program web page.
If a PCR in the same product category or a related PCR exists, consider the adoption of the readily available PCR documents. You will take it as reference for your LCA calculation.
In case there are reasons for developing PCR documents that have a different content from existing PCRs, you should make justification for developing a new PCR.
This is based on the principle of the effort to achieve harmonization of the Type III environmental declaration program.
If you cannot find a PCR in the same product category related to the selected product, contact an EPD program operator to ask their support for developing PCR. The program operator will provide guidance on how to develop PCR.
For procedure for development and maintenance of PCR, go to the web “Procedure for development and maintenance of PCR”.
